  • Tulsa Charter School Declares New Name along with Independence from National Management

    A Tulsa Public Schools-sponsored charter school has announced a new name as it breaks away from the national charter school management organization that helped launch it three years ago.

    Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School will now be known as Tulsa Legacy Charter School.

    “Operating as an independent charter school will allow for operational and academic decisions to be made on the local level, better serving North Tulsa students and families,” says a statement the school released to the media Tuesday.

    The school occupies two campuses at the northern tip of the city and serves about 510 students in prekindergarten through seventh grade. It sought and received school board approval Monday night to remove Lighthouse Academies Inc. as a party to its sponsorship contract with TPS and for updates to its three-year contract with the school district.
